UK releases population statistics

Most Cypriots in the UK live in and around London

In 2017, a total of 64,000 UK residents were born in the Republic of Cyprus and 10,000 in the north of the Cyprus, according to the latest figures by the British National Bureau of Statistics.

56,000 Greek Cypriots live in England, 4,000 in different regions of Scotland, 3,000 in Wales and about 1,000 in Northern Ireland.

Of those who live in England, 26,000 are in London, 6,000 in inner London comprising Camden, Hackney and Harringay and 20,000 in other parts of London such as Barnett and Enfield.

The other 36,000 Cypriots live in different parts of the country.

Of the 64,000 Greek-Cypriot residents in the United Kingdom listed, 19,000 have only Cypriot citizenship.

Cypriots are the 49th largest national community in the United Kingdom. Greeks are in 23rd place, with 70,000 people.

Poland remains in first place with 1,0210,000 and Romania in second with 411,000.

Overall, non-UK residents in the UK in 2017 were 6.2 million out of a total of 65,176 million inhabitants, an increase of 4 per cent from 2016.
