Suspect remanded after two armed robberies in Larnaca

A 32-year-old man was remanded in custody for six days on Friday by the Larnaca District Court in connection with two armed robberies committed earlier in the day in Larnaca.

The two robberies, at a hotel and a bakery in Larnaca, happened within ten minutes of each other on Thursday morning, and the man was arrested later in the day.

From the start of the investigations, they were believed to have been committed by the same person.

Shortly before 1.50am a hooded person wearing black clothes entered a hotel in the area and, armed with a folding metal bat, grabbed a sum of money before leaving on a dark motorbike. A female employee reportedly handed over €250.

Police were told that a person fitting the same description and acting in the same way entered a bakery ten minutes later and stole money, while again leaving the scene on a motorbike. In this incident the suspect spoke in English and made off with €350.
