Pensioner arrested at airport for possession of 2 kilos of cannabis

A 75-year-old man was arrested after police found more than two kilos of cannabis in his possession on arrival at Larnaca airport in the early hours of Friday morning.

The illegal substance was discovered during checks of the man’s luggage, who arrived in the island from a European country around 1am.

Two packages containing two kilos and 285 grammes of cannabis were confiscated, while the suspect was arrested.

Police are investigating a case of illegal possession of drugs with intend to supply and illegal importation of drugs.
