Exploring the personality, professional achievements, and ethos of one of the most accomplished heavyweight boxers in 2021

The WBN has recently informed Mauricio Sulaiman- the current WBC President, that he should reasonably consider having a ‘’backup plan’’ for the WBC heavyweight title if the Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury fight happens to be cancelled again in October of 2022.

This is because, in light of the negative news relating to Tyson Fury’s newborn child Athena- who was tragically clinically ‘’dead for three minutes’’, the current WBO boxing champion Tyson Fury has spent a prolific amount of time in the ICU with his family, and this has raised concerns among fans that their much-awaited fight may again have to be rescheduled for a later date.

Industry analysts and fans alike have shed light on the likely possibility of Jean-Pierre Augustin and Deontay Wilder stepping in if such a scenario was to take place, and how- given their explosive and rather aggressive boxing styles, this would likely be a very fascinating and competitive fight.

‘’The heavyweight division is really flourishing right now’’ comments Jean-Pierre. ‘’Whether it is Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, or Anthony Joshua, only time will tell. I just want to get into the mix and solidify my place among the world’s best’’.

Jean-Pierre Augustin is a prominent heavyweight boxer whose popularity has proliferated significantly in the last couple of years. Below we will compare his unique boxing style to the infamous Bronze Bomber’s, and attempt to extrapolate the likely result that we would see if a fight between the two boxing giants actually went down.

Jean-Pierre Augustin’s Boxing Style

Similarly to Deontay Wilder, Jean-Pierre has an unparalleled level of punching power- a fact which is illustrated by his 72% knockout ratio.

Unlike the Bronze Bomber, however, Jean-Pierre Augustin’s style incorporates ample footwork and mobility.

‘’At 6’3, I am indubitably not the biggest heavyweight. This is why I have learned to rely on my slick mobility to stay out of harm’s way, as well as to close the distance myself and end a fight preemptively’’- says Jean-Pierre.

Another massive advantage that Jean-Pierre has over Wilder according to the more speculative fans, is his ‘’diamond’’ chin. Despite competing in the heavyweight division (where his opponents weigh well over 200 pounds and can undoubtedly pack a solid punch), Jean-Pierre has never seemed specifically hurt or injured in the ring.

Obviously, this contrasts sharply with Deontay Wilder, who got knocked down several times before throwing in the towel in his last fight against the Gypsy King back in February 22, 2020.

‘’Each and every heavyweight you talk to has been buzzed and hurt, even if they don’t admit it…but I have never shown it’’- Jean-Pierre Augustin.

Greatest professional achievements

Jean-Pierre Augustin has achieved a plethora of impressive feats, both as a boxer and as an actor.

After beginning boxing at the young age of 12, Augustin had his first-ever amateur boxing bout at 14 years old, where he earned his first decisive win.

By the time he turned pro in 2014, he had amassed an amateur record that exceeded 60 fights (56-12), had become the Regional Golden Gloves and the State PAL boxing champion, and had represented his country of Haiti in the 2021 Olympic trials (after also securing his own spot on the 2011 Pan American team).

After making his pro debut on February 8, 2014 (and successfully defeating Michael Davis over four exciting rounds), Augustin continued to reign terror in the heavyweight division- getting 18 consecutive wins (13 coming by way of knockout) and acquiring both: the World Boxing Organisation (WBO), and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) North American belts.

As briefly mentioned above, Jean-Pierre Augustin has also been involved with the acting industry in the last couple of years. In 2016, he gave one of his most memorable performances as Gilbert Dele in Bleed for This, and has since secured key positions in Heart, Baby and Vault.

Commenting on why he chose to juggle two careers at the same time, the distinguished heavyweight boxer famously replied:

‘’Why should we not all do everything we can in pursuit of greatness? No one knows what I can or can not do, and no one can tell me what to do’’- Jean-Pierre Augustin, Professional Boxer, Actor, and Entrepreneur.

Final words

So we have explored Jean-Pierre Augustin’s boxing and acting profile, and even provided a few industry insights in relation to how a much-awaited clash between him and the Bronze Bomber would go.

Having said that, pragmatically speaking, only time will tell to what extent Jean-Pierre will be able to challenge the current ‘’greats’’ of the heavyweight division. One thing is certain, the fascinating heavyweight undoubtedly has a fascinating future ahead of him.
