Coronavirus: Seven businesses, 36 people fined for violating measures

Police fined seven businesses and 36 individuals after 2,997 nationwide checks to identify any coronavirus measures violations in the 24 hours leading up to 6am on Friday.

More than one third of the checks were conducted in Nicosia.

Eleven people and one business were fined in the capital after 1,095 checks, while 14 people and three establishments were booked in Limassol after just 301 checks.

Nine people and one business were also fined in Famagusta after 526 checks, while two more people were fined in Larnaca after 492 checks.

Two Paphos-based businesses were fined after 299 checks, while no violations were reported in Morphou following 78 checks, police said.

Traffic as well as port and marine police conducted 183 and 23 checks respectively without reporting any violations.

Breaches in coronavirus protocols include failure to wear a face mask or present a SafePass.
