Man wanted in Poland arrested in Paphos

Paphos Police on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man against whom a European arrest warrant was pending.

According to police spokesman and head of CID Michalis Nikolaou, at 1.40pm, the wanted man arrived at Paphos airport from Germany. An arrest warrant issued by Poland was pending against him and he had been sentenced to one-year imprisonment for illegal drugs possession, committed in May 2014.

Nikolaou said the wanted man was arrested and is in custody, while procedures for his extradition to the Polish authorities are underway.
