Two men arrested for overstaying visas

Police detained two Georgian men, 38 and 40, for staying in the republic after their residence permit expired.

They were arrested during routine checks on Alexandrou Papagou avenue at 4.30pm on Sunday.

According to the police, the 38-year-old arrived in Cyprus via Larnaca airport on February 5, 2019. He was granted a visitor permit to stay until February 9, 2019.

He has remained on the island illegally at an unknown address since then, police said.

The older man arrived at Larnaca airport on October 19 the same year, and had permission to stay until October 22, 2019.

Procedures are underway to deport the two men.
