A 23-year-old was remanded in custody for two days by Limassol district court on Monday as police investigate the theft of 13 hunting rifles and air guns after a shop was broken into early on Saturday.

The stolen guns – eight hunting rifles, five air guns as well as a training pistol which had not been reported as stolen — were recovered on Sunday. After an extensive search, police said they had found the guns hidden in a ditch outside a village in Limassol district.

Another man, aged 21, is also under arrest in connection with this case.

On Sunday, he was remanded in custody for five days in connection with the gun theft, as well as for the burglary of two supermarkets.
