Limassol protest over covid measures, obligatory testing for pupils

Scores of people gathered outside the district administration office in Limassol on Sunday afternoon to protest against the measures against the spread of coronavirus but also the obligatory testing in schools.

Protesters also held banners against corruption.

Some were holding white balloons, while white carnations were given to the police officers who were monitoring the event.

The banners, placed on the district administration offices’ gate, read: “Nothing is worth more than our children,” “Democracy here and now,” and “Hands off our children.”

Pupils aged 12 and over must now present a weekly negative rapid test to be allowed in schools.

Some banners were questioning the existence of coronavirus with one of them calling for an “end to the coronavirus agenda.”
