How does an archaeologist decide where to dig?

If you were an archaeologist, how would you decide where to dig?

Archaeological evidence that makes the case for a dig, can be as simple as strolling past clearly distinguishable ruins, or it can be as complex as using lasers, satellite imagery and other new geophysical techniques to reveal long-lost structures.

In this video, we join archaeologist and National Geographic Explorer Eric Cline to learn more about how a site is chosen, and the clues – obvious, or subtle – pointing to the presence of ancient remains.
