Coronavirus: Two deaths, 360 new cases (Updated)

Two deaths from coronavirus and 360 new cases were announced on Monday.

The deaths were two women, 75 and 85, both with underlying health conditions. Neither of them had been vaccinated.

The health ministry said hospitalisations had dropped to 185 with 49 people in a serious condition. Nineteen people are intubated.

In total 48,432 tests were carried out, PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate 0.74 per cent.

The new cases concern 66 people found positive during contact tracing, 30 people who got tested privately, and 23 cases processed at the state hospitals’ labs.

Nine cases were found positive during tests at the Larnaca and Paphos airports and one case was among  people referred for testing by their physicians.

Ten cases were people who got rapid tests in private labs.

Another 221 cases were detected among 43,609 tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Among these are two cases found in nursing homes, one in Limassol, the other in Paphos, two in the National Guard and three in the education sector. Another two cases were found among tests given at the Limassol industrial area and one in that of Strovolos.

In addition to these, 107 cases were detected in the Limassol district (1.06 per cent), 64 in Nicosia (0.39 per cent), 28 in Larnaca (0.48 per cent), nine in Paphos (0.29 per cent) and three in the Famagusta district (0.15 per cent).

The total number of cases is now 44,991.

So far, 254 deaths have been recorded: 168 men and 86 women.
