Coronavirus: no deaths, 431 new cases announced on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry on Friday announced 431 cases of Covid-19 from 54,842 PCR and rapid tests with a positivity rate of 0.79 per cent.

There were no new deaths. The death toll remains at 261 with an average age of 79.

There are 210 people in hospitals of whom 48 are in serious condition. Of these, 24 are intubated.

Of the 54,842 tests,  2,898 were PCR and 51.944 were antigen rapid tests.

There were 431 positives as follows:

  • 84 from 1,164 samples taken through contact tracing
  • 28 from 1,159 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 3 from 105 samples tested at hospital labs
  • 2 from 470 samples tested through GP referrals
  • 2 from 101 samples tested at private labs and pharmacies
  • 312  from 51,843 samples taken during the free testing programme

From the rapid tests, 116 were in Nicosia, 114 in Limassol, 42 in Larnaca, 29 in Paphos, 10 in the Famagusta area,  and one in the National Guard.
