Thrift-loving new generation fuelling rise of ‘used economy’

Since the pandemic began, much of the fashion industry has taken a hit – but not the resale sector. In fact, the online market for used clothes is growing faster than the market for new garments.

Worldwide consumer trends show younger generations want to be more socially conscious while keeping a tight budget.

And given their awareness of fast fashion’s ecological cost, paired with the rise of e-commerce, a new report projects that, over the next decade, the second-hand clothing market could hit $80 billion globally.
