A Molotov cocktail that was thrown at Polemidia police station late on Tuesday night has been condemned by police chief Stelios Papatheodorou.

He said that such actions constitute an attack on the authorities and the state.

Speaking in Limassol on Wednesday, Papatheodorou said it was a relief no one was hurt in the incident but that it is a cause for concern and investigations are under way.

Asked to comment on the injury sustained by a teenager from a firecracker, the police chief called on parents, schools and all others involved to take such issues seriously.

Papatheodorou said thankfully during Easter, due to the diligence of the authorities and awareness campaigns, no one was seriously injured – during a period which typically sees teenagers losing fingers.
