Coronavirus: 45 individuals plus one business owner fined for breaking protocols

A total of 46 people, including one business owner were fined in the last 24 hours for breaking coronavirus protocols, police said.

The fines resulted from 3,522 checks nationwide carried out between 6am on Sunday and 6am on Monday.

Most checks were conducted in Nicosia, where 22 residents were fined after 1,354 police checks.

In Limassol five people were fined after 318 checks, in Larnaca three people were fined after 391 checks while in Paphos, seven people were fined and one business from 510 checks. Famagusta officers also reported eight people after 429 checks while another person was fined in Morphou after 259 checks.

Traffic as well as the marina and port police conducted 243 and 18 checks respectively without reporting any violations.

Breaches in coronavirus measures include failure to wear a face mask or carry a SafePass in certain indoor venues.
