Coronavirus: No deaths, 83 new cases on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry on Sunday announced 83 new Covid-19 cases out of 42,672 PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.19 per cent.

No deaths were recorded.

There are 68 patients with Covid-19 in hospital, 27 of whom in serious condition, including 12 who are intubated, while 60.2 per cent of those hospitalised are not vaccinated.

Thirteen of the new cases were passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Another 18 were people found positive through contact tracing, 13 who got PCR tests privately, 17 who got rapid tests privately, and five samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

The rest concern 17 cases found positive during the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. These concern four people found positive in the Nicosia district out of 7,816 tests, four in Limassol (4,100), four in Larnaca (3,550), three in Paphos (2,517) and one in the Famagusta district (1,594). One case was found positive during rapid testing at the airports.

So far 120,498 cases were recorded.

The number of deaths is 554.
