Foreign Ministry diplomats are holding a 24-hour strike Wednesday over the appointment of a non-diplomat to the position of ambassador, which they want reversed.

Staff held a two-hour strike last week for the same reason but decided to escalate after there was no response to their demands.

The public service commission, which is responsible for the appointment, said last week it would not be rescinding its decision.
