Man arrested for assaulting bus driver after asked to wear a mask

A 30-year-old man was on Thursday arrested on suspicion of assaulting a bus driver and causing damage to the vehicle after he was asked to wear a face mask.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a bus stop on Franklin Roosevelt Avenue in Limassol.

When the bus driver asked the suspect to put on a face mask before boarding, the man allegedly became enraged, punched the driver in the face and cursed him.

Stepping off the bus, the man is said to have started throwing stones at the windshield, shattering it. The damage to the bus is estimated at €2,600.
