Paphos police have arrested a 25-year-old man for driving under the influence of drugs. The car’s registration had been cancelled and the car did not have an MOT certificate, the Cyprus News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Deputy police chief for the district Michalis Ioannou told the news agency that traffic police had stopped the vehicle driven by the suspect, a permanent resident of Paphos, for checks.

They determined that the car was no longer registered as its road tax had expired at the end of 2018 and the MOT in February 2021.

He was asked to give a sample for drugs, and initial tests determined the presence of narcotics in his saliva.

He was then asked to give an additional sample that will be sent to the state lab for tests.

Nothing illegal was found in his car which was taken to Paphos traffic police while the man was detained.
