police fines

A Paphos bar was booked for operating without a music licence after three employees were found violating coronavirus measures following 117 checks in the district, police said Wednesday.

According to the daily police briefing on coronavirus checks, officers found two employees working at the bar without a face mask and another who did not have a valid SafePass. Police said the case will be referred to court because the establishment was operating without a music licence.

They added that an individual was also booked in the district for violating coronavirus measures.

The checks in Paphos were part of 1,610 inspections in the government-controlled areas carried out over the last 24 hours that ended at 6am on Wednesday.

After 408 checks in Nicosia, one person was booked, two in Larnaca after 422 checks and another two in Famagusta after 350 checks.

No violations were reported in Limassol after 104 checks nor in Morphou after 59 checks.

Traffic, port and marine police also conducted 143 and seven inspections respectively, without any bookings.
