A 29-year-old man was arrested and remanded in custody to help police with their investigations into five burglaries and thefts in the Famagusta district which were allegedly committed in March and April of this year.

According to a police statement, the man was arrested after a court issued a warrant for his arrest in light of information that emerged during the investigation of a farm burglary case in the Famagusta district. The burglary was reported to the Famagusta Police Department, on Friday, May 6, by the owner of the farmhouse.

According to the complaint, a small sum of money and other items were stolen after a burglary at the farmhouse in March, while from a shed in the yard, other metal items were stolen. The owner of the farmhouse also complained that, in two other incidents, in March and April, various objects were stolen from the yard of the farmhouse, including a boiler, the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported.

The 29-year-old, while under police interrogation, allegedly confessed to breaking into a farmhouse and a warehouse from where turbines and agricultural tools were stolen.

He also allegedly confessed to three other thefts of metal objects and agricultural equipment, from three agricultural plots. The burglary and the thefts were committed in April, in Famagusta district.
