Motorist doing almost double the legal speed limit arrested

Traffic police arrested an 38-year-old motorist on Saturday night for speeding along the motorway at 197km per hour.

The legal speed limit on Cyprus motorways is 100km per hour.

The incident took place on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, near the Kornos exit, at around 7.50pm on Friday.

The 38-year-old was arrested and after being charged in writing was released.

He is expected to be summoned before Larnaca district court on Monday.

The Kofinou district police station is continuing its investigations.
