Heavy traffic in some areas, many picnic sites overcrowded

Police said there was heavy traffic on some mountain roads on Monday while the forestry department said some picnic sites were overcrowded and it urged people to go elsewhere.

There was heavy traffic in the morning on the Limassol-Platres road between the villages of Trimiklini – Saittas, police said.

According to the police, the biggest problem was in Trimiklini in the area of the church where many people parked to take advantage of the open-air fruit and veg market.

Police patrols are in the area to try and normalise the traffic situation, they said.

They were urging drivers to be patient, obey the traffic rules and comply with the instructions of the officers.

Meanwhile, the forestry department said that due to the number of family and group outings, excursion areas on the borders of the Troodos, Platanion, Pasia Livadi, Mesa Potamou, Trooditissa and Kampos touLivadi were overcrowded and urged the public to go elswhere.
