Aradippou forest fire partially controlled

A forest fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon in Aradippou community was partially controlled by later the same night.

Forest department officers and firefighters will be on site to continue efforts to extinguish the fire, the forestry department said in its statement.

The fire broke out around 6.20pm in an abandoned illegal landfill near the Kelia state forest.

Despite efforts by the department and the fire service, the fire continues to burn within the landfill, while the ground forces are operating to prevent the fire from spreading.
