Alexis Sunder and Della live in Nicosia

More live music is coming to the capital this month and especially to the old town. One of Nicosia’s oldest music venues, Antonakis Music Hall is welcoming two musicians to its stage on December 29 – Alexis Sunder and Della.

Starting at 8.30pm, audiences will become acquainted with Della’s raw, honest and, at times, self-deprecating lyrics, which are delivered with captivating depth and biting overtones. She pulls in listeners with her emotive lyricism intertwined with catchy melodies that are an intricate blend of garage rock, jazz and indie pop. Della’s band consists of Alex on guitar, Filios on bass and Ulaš on drums. The amalgam of these musicians sets the perfect tone for a sensual, intimate and electric performance.

Then Alexis Sunder will take the stage. He is a Cypriot singer-songwriter whose signature sound is defined by head-bobbing grooves, introspective lyrics and sunny melodies. Along with his live band, Sunder offers a groove-driven energetic set that blends funk, soul and pop-rock and offers modern impressions on strong retro vibes.

Fresh from his eye-catching appearance at this year’s Fengaros Festival in Kato Drys and the release of his eponymous debut EP over the summer, Sunder has become a staple in the live music scene of Cyprus with a strong following. He is supported by his steady collaborators of Fragkiskos Petrides, Andreas Papageorgiou and Andreas Epaminonda on drums, bass and guitar respectively.
