Famagusta tourism ad campaign goes digital

The Famagusta district will be the subject of a massive digital promotion campaign in 2023, Ayia Napa mayor Christos Zannettou said on Monday after a comprehensive action plan to promote the area’s most important landmarks was approved in 2022.

Zannettou said the budget of the campaign, approved by the deputy ministry of tourism, amounts to €230,000.

“The funds will also be used to build public gyms near beaches, playgrounds and small green areas for both locals and tourists.

“We are engaging in digital promotion for the first in order to better promote the entire district, from its beautiful beaches to its mainland and the many activities available for visitors,” the Ayia Napa mayor said.

He added that a new app developed in cooperation with the deputy ministry of tourism called Ayia Napa-Protaras, available on the App Store and Google Play, will further help tourists discover the full range of activities and places of interest in the area.

“The app is crucial because it provides information and tips to people even before a planned visit. It could be a catalyst for potential tourists, for people who don’t yet know much about Cyprus and the Famagusta district in particular.”

Zannettou added that information about hotels and restaurants will soon be added to the app, which will also feature 360 degree virtual tours of several villages in the district and their main landmarks, such as the Metamorphosis Church in Sotira.

“This app represents a smart, easy and effective way to provide a pool of information related to the district to visitors and promote not only beaches but villages and landmarks located in Cyprus’ mainland.

“With all these plans, we want to promote tourism in the Famagusta district on all levels and the app will also help us build a database that will be continuously upgraded,” Zannettou concluded.
