Petroleum sales register drop of 5 per cent, year-on-year

Total sales of petroleum products in April registered a year-on-year drop of more than 5 per cent, according to data released by the Statistical Service on Monday.

In April 2023 total sales amounted to 105,527 tonnes, a decrease of 5.2 compared to April last year.

A drop was recorded in the supplies of marine gasoil (-46.7 per cent), as well as in the sales of light fuel oil (-46.9 per cent).

Conversely, a rise was recorded in the supplies of aviation kerosene (10.4 per cent), as well as in the sales of kerosene (154.7 per cent), heating gasoil (39.7 per cent), heavy fuel oil (25 per cent), liquefied petroleum gas (20.6 per cent), road diesel (4.5 per cent) and motor gasoline (3.5 per cent).

As far as sales from filling stations are concerned, these registered an increase of 6 per cent to 50,724 tonnes.

Meanwhile total sales of petroleum products in April 2023, compared to March 2023, declined by 5.6 per cent.

And for the period January to April 2023, total sales fell 5.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.
