Kataklysmos long weekend celebrations come to an end on Monday with water sports events.

A series of events were held to mark the traditional annual celebration of The Flood, with a focus on coastal cities, which continued on Monday.

After the big Paphos concert of Greek singer Elli Kokkinou and the Kings band on Sunday night, the Paphos nautical club in collaboration with the municipality are organising water sports on Monday afternoon.

The three-hour event will start at 5pm at the harbour of Kato Paphos and will be followed with traditional Cypriot dances by professional dance clubs and a music concert by the music band of Nikolas Mavresis.

More water sport events will be held in Polis Chrysochous on Monday afternoon. There will also be a dance show and music concern with Maria Karlaki and Panayiotis Hadjiantonis.

In Larnaca, the Kataklysmos Fair comes to a close on Monday which showcased for four days local traditional professions. Karagiozis shadow theatre was also held at the gardens of the Medieval castle between June 2-5.

Meanwhile, children -and some adults- kept the tradition of playing ‘water wars’ during the long weekend of Kataklysmos using water hoses, water balloons and other items holding water.
