Annita Demetriou to address Irish parliament during her visit

House president Annita Demetriou

House President Annita Demetriou will travel to Ireland on Sunday where she will address the Irish parliament and meet the country’s leadership during the four-day visit.

Demetriou was invited to Dublin by her Irish counterpart Seán Ó Fearghaíl.

As part of her visit, she will be received by the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins and the Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, and will have separate meetings with Ó Fearghaíl, who will also host a dinner in her honour.

She will also have a meeting with the minister for law reform James Browne, as well as having a joint meeting with the Chair of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence and the Chair of the Joint Committee on European Affairs of the Irish Parliament, Charlie Flanagan and Colm Brophy.

Demetriou will also visit Trinity College and the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and places of social, historical, and cultural interest in County Kildare, which is close to Dublin.

Travelling with her will be the director-general of parliament and other officials.

She will return to Cyprus on June 15.
