Theft from a church in Kalavasos

Larnaca police were on Thursday investigating the theft of a silver chalice and a silver cross worth €6,500 from the Ayios Giorgos Church in Kalavasos.

The theft was reported to police at around 10.30am on Thursday by a member of the church committee.

There has been a spate of church burglaries recently, particularly in Paphos where the local bishop last week called on the faithful to help guard church building.
