A minute with Yordan Yordanov Head Chef at Boho Chic Tapas bar and recent winner at international gastronomy exhibition

Where do you live?
I live in Limassol, Cyprus, with my pregnant wife. In a month our son will be born.

Best childhood memory?
When I won my first championship with my school football team. It was the first official feast where I received an award in front of a lot of people and to be honest I am still proud that I was a part of that team.

Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish?
I do not have a specific restaurant on my “prefer list” because I like to expand my mind as it concerns the taste of food and also to gain new experiences. The Mediterranean flavours (Spanish, Italian, Greek) always intrigue me the most but in genera I want to try everything in order to have an idea.

What did you have for breakfast?
Breakfast is a very important meal of the day so I get loaded with proteins from egg whites.

Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
My job does not allow me to be a night person so I call myself as a day person. The perfect day for me would include absolutely my family and good friends. A restaurant for a Sunday lunch would be my first choice and then on the afternoon I would like to walk by the sea, breath and relax my mind

Best book ever read…
Recipes, True Stories thrill me

Favourite film of all time?
Braveheart. Mel Gibson is one my favorite actors but as it concerns the storyline the film shows how sentimental a man could be but also how savage he could exist.

Best holiday ever taken? What’s your dream trip?
The best trip I have ever had was in Italy. I met a new culture; I visited numerous places and sights that gained my interest. My dream trip is to travel all over the world and meet and try all the different kitchens.

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Music with a happy beat and style.

What is always in your fridge?
Fresh herbs are always my best friends!

Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
This question creates a big dilemma in my head. I would like a rural retreat because I would be outside of the town where it will be quieter and the pressure of the job will be less. It will be a more relaxed environment. But for sure I could not stay away from Limassol because I love my city and it is a part of me.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Gordon Ramsey. I like his style and I am delighted that it is a very experienced chef. For sure I would gain a lot of new information and knowledge from him.

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Family Time!

What is your greatest fear?
My biggest fear is to happen something to me and then affect my family. It will not be easy for me to think that I could not give them what they need and desire, but also to quit my job which is my second love. I do not like the thought to be empty-handed.
I am a Chef and I cannot keep calm!
