A LARGE quantity of drugs smuggled into a shipment of furniture was reported by police on Saturday.

Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency, police spokesman Andreas Angelides said that investigations relating to another recent similar case led them late on Friday night to the discovery of 36 packages containing a total 26 kilos of cannabis, as well as one kilo of crystal methamphetamine, stashed in a sofa imported through Limassol port from “another EU-member state port”.

On Saturday a 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case, following a tip off.
Members of the police’s drug squad continue to investigate the case, a police report said.
