Thousands in cash and jewellery stolen from house in Liopetri

Thieves stole €22,500 worth of cash and jewellery from a house in Liopetri on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The 52-year-old owner of the house reported to police that between 3.30pm and 4.10pm, the amount of €19,800 in cash, jewellery worth €1,900, and a mobile phone worth €800 were stolen.

According to the owner, €6,650 of the stolen cash belonged to a friend, while the rest is property belonged to herself and her two daughters.

There was no sign of forced entry. A door on the side of the house was closed but not locked at the time.

The stolen items are not covered by insurance.
