The two leaders will travel to Mont Pelerin on Monday for five days of talks on territory and other aspects of the island’s division.

The Greek Cypriot side argues that unless territory was settled, the reunification process could not advance to the next stage.

Akinci on the other hand suggested that a multilateral conference after the Switzerland talks was a foregone conclusion.

Greek Cypriots also ruled out agreeing to any foreign guarantees or troops remaining on the island as part of a settlement.
