Drivers warned of heavy rain

Police on Monday afternoon asked drivers to be particularly careful in the Choirokoitia area because of heavy rains and hail storms in the area.

Heavy rains were also reported in Limassol while police warned about landslides on the Gerasa to Kalo Chorio road.

During the first three days of December, 21 per cent of the average monthly rain was recorded, the met office announced on Monday.

According to the announcement, the total amount was 22.6mm, while the average for the month is 105.6mm.

Polis had the highest amount of precipitation, 51.8mm, 52 per cent of the monthly average for the region, followed by Stavros tis Psokas (31.1mm), Kellaki (27mm) and Limassol (25.5mm)

The lowest amount of rain fell in Frenaros with 9.7mm, Xylotymbou with 11.6mm and Larnaca airport with 13.4mm.

The average rainfall in November is 53.3mm, but this year there was only 31.1mm, 58 per cent of the average. As in the first three days of December, the Larnaca and Famagusta areas had less rain than the other areas last month.
