Coronavirus: 17 individuals, eight businesses fined for breaking decrees

Police reported 17 individuals and eight premises for breaking decrees to contain the spread of coronavirus in the 24 hours to 6.00 am on Thursday.

A police spokesman told the Cyprus News Agency that the fines were issued after 2813 checks islandwide.

He said a total of €5000 in fines were issued to premises, primarily concerning staff members who were not wearing a mask or did not have a SafePass, and premises without the required signage.

A total of 825 checks were carried out in the Nicosia district, resulting in one business and four individuals being fined.

Six individuals and two premises were reported in Limassol after 267 tests while in Larnaca 589 checks led to one individual and two premises being fined.

There were 239 checks in Paphos where two individuals and three premises were reported, while four individuals were fined in the Famagusta district after 450 checks. No violations were reported in the Morphou area where 166 checks were carried out.

Finally, traffic police and the marine police carried out 259 and 18 checks respectively, with no violations reported.
