Art bazaars, food markets and live music in Nicosia

bazaar

Goodbye Easter holidays, hello weekend! Continuing the high spirits and celebratory mood there are several events in Nicosia this weekend. Some of them are returning events, others are popular markets with a long overdue rendezvous.

On Thursday, when the weekend mood begins, a vintage and second-hand clothes and accessories bazaar is taking place at Prozak kafeneio. From 4.15pm until about 10pm, local artists will display women’s clothing, accessories and artefacts available to purchase. Also happening at Prozak this week is a live music session by the Sweet May Dews duo. The fiddle and guitar duo from Southern Indiana will be at the Nicosia café-bar this Saturday to play American Old-time and country music, as well as fiddle tunes from around the world.

Before that though comes a food market that has been on stand-by for the last two years. The return of the Fork Food Market this Friday at the Nicosia Municipal Gardens is a highly anticipated affair. The people’s favourite and beloved market for foodies makes its comeback, serving tasty street food from 7pm onwards as well as refreshing drinks. The usual elements will be flowing through the gardens – full plates, music and draft beer.

On Saturday, Nicosia’s old town will welcome another craft bazaar, this one focusing on ceramic art. Tochka ceramic studio is hosting a spring bazaar featuring the work of seven local ceramic artists. The event will last all day, from 10am to 6pm, aiming to introduce young creatives and support the sustainable production of the island.
