In a sign that the summer travel season is kicking off, Hermes airports announced on Monday its summer ’22 flight schedule to and from Larnaca and Paphos making available over 10 million seats on 140 routes.

Fifty airlines are now expected to operate flights to and from Larnaca and Paphos on 140 routes, including five new ones, from 95 destinations in 38 countries, according to a press release by Hermes, which runs both airports.

New destinations include Pisa (Ryanair), Salzburg (Eurowings), Bern (Helvetic), Nuremberg (Correndon) and Jeddah (Cyprus Airways). In addition, after two years, eight other routes have been reinstated and now flights from the UK, Norwich (TUI) and Belfast (Jet 2) to Paphos, from Denmark, Aalbord (Jet time) to Larnaca, from Norway, Trondheim, and Stavanger (SunClass) to Larnaca and flights from Sweden, Norrkoping (Jet time), Orebro and Vaxjo Kronenberg (Sunclass) all to Larnaca are available.

Furthermore, easyJet is introducing a new operation from Paris CDG to Larnaca (two weekly flights), Wizzair is adding an operation from London Gatwick to Larnaca (up to 10 weekly flights), a Larnaca-Cardiff route (two weekly flights), and a Larnaca-Yerevan route (two weekly flights). Importantly, data indicates a significant recovery in passenger traffic as in April 2022, a massive 85 per cent improvement compared to the corresponding month of 2019 was recorded. In total, from January 1 to April 30, passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos reached slightly more than 1.5 million passengers. The main passenger traffic in April 2022 came from the UK, Greece, Germany, Israel, Poland, Austria, and Italy.

“We are working together with our airline partners for the total restoration – and further improvement – of their pre-pandemic network. This year’s schedule confirms the confidence in Cyprus as a destination since there is a significant recovery in existing and new markets,” said Hermes airports aviation development and communication manager Maria Kouroupi.
