Apartment blast shakes Mouttalos neighbourhood

Police on Saturday announced that an explosion occurred at approximately 9pm on Friday at the entrance of an apartment in the Mouttalos area of Paphos.

According to a police spokesperson, the apartment, confirmed to be in the Mouttalos area, is owned by a 46-year-old permanent resident of Paphos who was not present at the time of the explosion.

Examinations conducted at the scene by members of the Paphos crime investigation unit revealed that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device.

The blast resulted in damage to the entrance of the apartment.

The area has been cordoned off by the police, and examinations are expected to resume throughout Saturday morning by police.
