‘There’s nothing more soothing than public venting’

nefeli meg 3

Following the great success of her sold-out shows in Athens, Nefeli Megg is coming to Cyprus for the first time. Collaborating with Motion Comedy, she will present two comic monologues in Limassol and Nicosia on Thursday and Friday. Titled Boukla 99: The Show, her work is directed by George Angelopoulos and is set to entertain Greek-speaking audiences this week.

“My beloved friends, the recording studio can no longer contain my madness, so I decided to transfer my insanity live,” Nefeli said prior to her trip to the island. “I am brining to the stage against everything that torments me – current affairs, unfulfilled relationships, family madness and the male brain. A comedic monologue, an ode to realism that looks at reality and transforms it into a comedic farce. Because there is nothing more soothing than public venting, my dear friends.”

She continues to explain how her journey started before she became internet famous. Theatre was her passion but she followed her parent’s wishes and became a lawyer. Soon after, she launched a YouTube channel and started doing stand-up comedy and realised how much she loves making people laugh at her misfortunes.

After a year of being the opening act of Kostas Maliatsis’ stand-up show, she popularised legal and socio-political issues through her Instagram and podcast Boukla 99. She went on to publish a book, a legal guide for beginners, gave TEDx talks and speeches and now, she brings her stories to Cyprus.

“No matter what I did, my dad remained disappointed,” she adds, “So, I decided to do this show, to invite you all to make a riot, so that even my dad can see that I belong on stage.” Her first Cyprus stop will be at Ravens Music Hall in Limassol before she entertains Nicosia audiences at Theatro Dentro.
