Cypriot students attending universities both abroad and at home will receive greater financial backing from the government to the tune of €4 million, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos said on Wednesday.

Speaking after a cabinet meeting, the minister said that the money concerns the utilisation of unspent money from the state student care fund, adding that there is an additional amount of €4 million which will be allocated to all students studying in Cyprus and abroad with specific criteria.

“It is an additional financial support for our students,” he added.

He also said that the financial aid, which is additional to the student grants given by the ministry, “covers a meal allowance which is €1,092 and a living allowance of €500” and added that remittances will be made in the coming days.
