Cyprus has introduced the National Cybersecurity Certification Authority, with the primary objective of positioning it as a regional centre for cybersecurity services.

The authority, as per the announcement from the Office of Commissioner of Communications-Digital Security Authority, is tasked with promoting cybersecurity certification for IT and communications sector products and services. This initiative seeks to enhance the capabilities of Cyprus, ultimately establishing the country as a regional certification centre and fostering economic benefits.

The National Cybersecurity Certification Authority holds the authorisation to certify both European and third-country products and services available in the European market.

Its responsibilities cover licensing and supervision of conformity assessment organisations, market oversight of certified products and manufacturers, collaboration with relevant domestic and international entities, and representation of Cyprus in European bodies related to cybersecurity.

In alignment with broader efforts, this newly established authority aims to contribute to Cyprus becoming a prominent regional centre for cybersecurity services. It emphasises cooperation with stakeholders to fortify cybersecurity not only within Cyprus but also across Europe.
