The process for the revamp of Yeroskipou’s historical centre is moving forward, as the village authority announced on Tuesday that the bidding process to award the project to a contractor will be open until February 9.

The estimated cost of the project is €2.6 million. Works will be carried out in two phases to minimise inconveniences for residents and ensure the necessary traffic flow.

The project includes the reconstruction and revitalisation of the historic area of Yeriskipou, located east and southeast of the square.

Specifically, it involves the reconstruction of public roads, pavements, and spaces to the east of the square, the construction of a new pedestrian walkway, landscaping with greenery and stonework, and other improvements in the area close to Kato Vrysi.

It also includes the creation of two small parking areas for 14 and 11 vehicles.

Additionally, the project includes the installation of new lighting in all common areas for wheeled traffic, pedestrian movement, and vehicle parking, as well as the collection and management of rainwater and underground utility network adjustments.

“The implementation of the project will highlight the character of the area, enhance residents’ quality of life, and contribute to the overall economic, cultural, and social revitalisation of Yeroskipou,” the municipality said.

Meanwhile, the municipality is also planning the reconstruction of deteriorated public walkways, involving the restoration and reconstruction of curbs, cobblestones, and pavements, as well as adjustments to drainage channels. The estimated cost of this project is €200,000.
