Coronavirus: Four deaths, 129 new cases (Updated)

Four deaths and 129 new cases of coronavirus out of 8,155 tests were announced on Saturday.

The positivity rate is 1.58 per cent.

The health ministry said hospital admissions had dropped to 174, but 59 people are in serious condition. Twenty-nine patients with coronavirus are intubated.

The four deaths were two men, aged 78 and 87, and two women, aged 89 and 81. They all had underlying health conditions. This brings the number of people who died of Covid-19 to 183; 122 men and 61 women with the average age of 80 years.

Of the 8,155 tests, 2,037 were PCR tests. Of these, 36 are people who were found positive through contact tracing and 17 were people who got tested privately.

Two people were found positive during checks among passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports. Another 17 cases were among samples processed at the state hospitals’ labs and two were people referred for testing by family physicians.

Fifty-five cases were detected through rapid tests.

One case was found among tests in care homes, 18 cases in the Limassol district with a positivity rate 1.43 per cent, 21 in Nicosia (0.80 per cent), eight in the Famagusta district (3.03 per cent), six in Larnaca (0.63 per cent) and one case in Paphos (0.29 per cent).

This brings the total number of cases so far to 29,887.
