Woman has licence taken after drunk driving incident

The Famagusta district court on Tuesday took away the driving licence of a 42-year-old woman after she was found drunk driving in Paralimni more than five times over the limit on January 23.

The woman’s blood alcohol measured 119mg when the limit is 22mg.  According to police, shortly after 8pm on January 23, Famagusta traffic police stopped the woman’s car on a street in Paralimni.

A case was filed against the 42-year-old and she appeared in court on Tuesday, where she was  bailed for €1,000 until her trial date on February 25.

The court also issued a decree banning the woman from driving until the court proceedings are completed.
