Arrest after grenades and firecrackers found

Police in Limassol on Wednesday arrested a man for being in possession of a large amount of explosives.

Officers who searched the flat where the 20-year-old man lives found 37 hand grenades and five boxes, each containing 40 firecrackers.

An arrest warrant was pending against the suspect as he is believed to have been involved in an earlier case involving explosives.

The case concerns 1.8kg of gunpowder which were found in an open area in Limassol on November 9, 2020.
