Coronavirus: 10,740 checks, 133 booked

During the last 24 hours police booked 133 persons, including two business owners, for breaching decrees to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Most concerned movements without an SMS permission and the non-use of protective masks.

From 6am on Monday until 6am on Tuesday a total of 10,740 checks were carried out, 2,903 in Nicosia, 1,826 in Limassol, 1,227 in Larnaca, 1,198 in Paphos, 1,409 in Famagusta and 1,024 in the Morphou district.

32 people were fined in Nicosia, 49 in Limassol, 19 in Larnaca, 9 in Paphos and 19 in Famagusta.

Traffic police conducted 981 inspections, and the rapid response unit another 135. Three individuals were booked as a result.
