Slew of roadworks in coming weeks

Roadworks will be carried out on motorways and other roads in the coming days and weeks, the transport ministry announced on Wednesday.

On Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 7am and 4pm, works will be carried out at a section of the Nicosia – Limassol motorway from the Parekklisia exit to the Ayia Fyla roundabout.

A private company will maintain and replace street lamps on behalf of the electromechanical services in the area. Motorists will have no access to the hard shoulder during the weekend.

During the works 100-metre stretches of one lane will also be closed and traffic is going to be directed to the other lane.

Works will start in the Larnaca district on Monday.

From February 8 until 26 every day except weekends, between 8am and 3pm, maintenance work on safety railings will be carried out on the motorway, from Nissou to Larnaca, from Larnaca airport to Paralimni and Kofinou to Larnaca.

Other affected roads are the old road from Nicosia to Limassol, the road from Mazotos to Zygi, the roads from Kochi to Aradippou, from Kalo Chorio to Mosfiloti and from Larnaca to Troulli.

One lane of the motorway will be closed and traffic will be channelled to the other lane.

On other roads a stop & go system will be used.

The department of public works apologised for any inconvenience and urged the public to follow directions by police.
