Coronavirus: Dentists resume normal operations

Private and state dentists have resumed normal operations, the health ministry announced on Monday, the first day of the second phase of measure relaxation.

Meanwhile, the vaccination of private dentists started in Paphos.

“Citizens are urged to observe the personal hygiene measures and to report any Covid-19 related symptoms to their dentist for the safety of the patients themselves, dentists and dental team,” a health ministry statement said.

All patients must book an appointment prior their visit.

The Cyprus dental association had issued an announcement late in January demanding an explanation from the health ministry who failed to include them in the first round of vaccinations. The association cited the world health organisation (WHO) which included dentists in the high-risk group of health professionals.

Following arrangements with the health ministry, about half of the Paphos’ private dentists received the vaccine on Monday at the general hospital.

The vaccinations will continue on Saturday at the Ayios Georgios private hospital. According to Atiki, 65 of the 118 private dentists of the district expressed interest to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Schools, the retail sector as well theatres, cinemas and museums reopened on Monday following a three-week blanket lockdown.
