The next few days will be crucial when it comes to seeing how the epidemiological picture is unfolding, Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Sunday.

In a post on Facebook the minister said that at the moment, the epidemiological picture in Cyprus was satisfactory ‘something that fills us with optimism,” he said in his post, commending the cooperation of the public, employees and companies.

“I call on people to continue the effort to stabilise the epidemiological indicators so that we can safely proceed to the next stages of de-escalation,” Ioannou said.

“Conditions have improved but the mutation of the virus and other factors do not allow for complacency,” he added.

“The strategy of mass testing with rapid tests, tracking and vaccination is proving effective and is now being adopted by other countries. The aim is to avoid a setback that will nullify our efforts and sacrifices, as we see happening abroad. The next few days are very important,” the message concluded.
